Let's have a show of hands...how many of us are blogging because we have a dream to work from home and earn a living making money online?
I thought so, after all, why else would you be reading a blog called Make Money Blogging? Yes, that is the dream that many of us share, to learn how to make money with a website and work from home. However, it isn't an easy dream to realize. Working from home takes a lot of um...work....
Of course it also involves a big decision, is your blog or website making enough money or does it have the potential to make enough money to allow you the opportunity to 'go pro'?
For most of us, blogging is at best a creative outlet, for others it is a way to make a little bit of extra money, and for others, it is a way to make a living online, and yes, work from home.
Before you quit your day job and go blogging pro, you need to consider a lot of things. Not the least of which is can you really make money online? Are you disciplined enough to drag yourself to your computer everyday and work, really work, without a boss or any structure around your day? Can you stand the loneliness of working by yourself day after day?
Provided your answer is yes to the above, now you need to look at the realities. Blogging and websites are a lot of work, and not necessarily a road to riches, despite what you may have heard. Is your blog making money now? How much? Is it enough to sustain you and your family from week to week, paying the mortgage and car payments and groceries etc? Is your blog a one shot wonder? In other words, yes, you had a big month last month, but have you and your blog got what it takes to make that kind of money month after month, year after year? I'm not sugar coating this, because I would hate to see one of my readers find themselves in a bad financial situation because blogging didn't give them the financial returns they had hoped for and expected.
In my own case, I still have my day job, and expect to have it a while longer. However, I am coming up on early retirement in a couple of years and I am hoping that blogging and making money from the internet will keep me busy, and offset the income lost when I retire to a pension.
Be realistic and serious if you are considering a move as huge as quitting a regular paycheck to blog. Be very realistic....it is easy to get caught up in blogging and especially if you start to make a little money. You have to carefully assess whether or not your blog or website has the potential to keep going, and to keep paying you the amounts of money you need to survive and live the life of the rich and famous you are accustomed to....

Welcome to my blog. Like so many other blogs and websites this is about making money with blogs and websites....in particular this is about my experiences making money on the internet. At the time of this writing, I am the author of something in the area of 40 blogs, which keeps me pretty busy. Along the way I have learned quite a bit about what works and what doesn't. I hope my experiences help you.
