As you go merrily on your way to earning all kinds of money from your website or blog through Adsense Contextual advertising, it is very wise to ensure the things you are doing are well within the Adsense Program Policies. Let's face it, there is no sense in making all kinds of money only to have Adsense cancel your account and not pay you and this can happen.
The Adsense Program Policies are fairly strict, not hard to follow, but fairly strict. As long as you know what they are you should be fine. Google say that they offer "a broad access to a variety of content in the search index" but "publishers in the Adsense program may only place Google ads on sites that adhere to our content guidelines"
So in other words, although you may be able to find lots of pornography or other questionable sites on Google you cannot place their ads on sites that are...um...questionable.
To save you the trouble of finding it yourself, I have found the list of no-no's for sites wishing to display Google Adsense advertisements. As you can see the list is quite extensive. Read it carefully. If you are still not sure, I suggest you email the good folks at Adsense and ask them.
So without further adieu, here are the things that sites displaying Google ads may not include:
1) Violent content, racial intolerance, or advocacy against any individual, group, or organization
2) Pornography, adult, or mature content
3) Hacking/cracking content
4) Illicit drugs and drug paraphernalia
5) Excessive profanity
6) Gambling or casino-related content
7) Content regarding programs which compensate users for clicking on ads or offers, performing searches, surfing websites, or reading emails
8) Excessive, repetitive, or irrelevant keywords in the content or code of web pages
9) Deceptive or manipulative content or construction to improve your site's search engine ranking, e.g., your site's PageRank
10) Sales or promotion of weapons or ammunition (e.g., firearms, fighting knives, stun guns)
11) Sales or promotion of beer or hard alcohol
12) Sales or promotion of tobacco or tobacco-related products
13) Sales or promotion of prescription drugs
14) Sales or promotion of products that are replicas or imitations of designer goods
15) Sales or distribution of term papers or student essays
16) Any other content that is illegal, promotes illegal activity, or infringes on the legal rights of others.
So there you have it. If your site is related to any of the above, you cannot use Adsense ads. However, there are alternative companies that have products and programs similiar to Adsense that you can use. One is Adengage, and another is AdBright, or AVN ads and there are others. For more information on these companies and other ways of making money with sites that are outside the Google Adsense policies have a look at Money Making With Sex Blogs
