Hey fellow blogger or website owner, how's it going? Are you making any money yet? Keep the faith, no one said it would be easy....wait...yes they did, lots of people do everyday...Those of us who have been at this for awhile know the difference thought don't we? It's a little like digging for gold in the Klondike, it's out there, we just gotta hit the right vein.
The good folks at Blogger and Google Adsense have done something kind of nice for those of us who blog on a Blogger template and platform. I just discovered it yesterday almost by accident. I am not sure how new this is, but it's new to me. I think it may help me to earn money from my blog and you too if you implement it.
The Blogger folks have created a process to allow us to add Adsense ads immediately following a post, or between posts. I have implemented it myself as you can see by scrolling down the page. I think it will be helpful because it allows the ads to be further integrated into the page which is usually a good thing. The usual rules apply, you can still have up to three ad units per page so you may have to remove one in order to add a new unit at the bottom of your post.
Although I know the suggestions about placing ads above 'the fold' or at the top of the page, I have always been a believer in ads beneath a post. It's my theory that a visitor to my blogs who reads the post, comes to the end and then looks for what's next. Using this process, what's next is a block of ads.
Adding the ad block to the bottom of the post is easy. All you do is go to the template page, open the template box where you blog story or text is, and you will see the icon that allows you to ad Adsense beneath the post. You can also allow the date, you name, comments, etc to appear or not, depending on your preference. I have removed most of that from my to bring the ads closer to the actual text.
As I have said many times already, so many times I am sure you are tired of reading it, one of the secrets to earning money from ads on a website or blog is experimenting and tracking the performance of different ad formats and colors and placements. No matter what you read it's not as easy as posting a few stories, implementing the ads and then sitting back to wait for the cheques to roll in. It takes a bit of trial and error, testing and tracking to find out what works the best in terms of making money.
I am going to give the ads at the bottom of the page a try and see what happens.
If you want to give it a try, you can find out all about it at The Adsense Blog
