Ya know...work sucks....that's why I spend so much time working...on my blogs and my Amazon Stores...they are work, don't get me wrong, but not work like the stuff I have to do everyday all day. That stuff really sucks. Writing blogs, getting links, reading other blogs, researching ways to improve my blogs and how to make money from my blogs that doesn't suck, and to me it isn't work. It's fun. I only wish I had found this stuff sooner and got at it quicker.
What began for me as a fun thing to do, write a little blog called The View From Silverhorn Mountain started out as a way to tell some funny stories and make a few folks laugh, while catering to my creative urges to create something for people to enjoy. I still like to do that but somewhere along the way I started to try to make it pay a little, it was that or find a part time job to supplement my income. Unfortunately part time jobs that allow a person the creative licence that I need to be happy are few and far between. Nothing wrong with working at Walmart or Sears in the evenings, but let's face it, not too creative.
Instead I stumbled into blogging and started to explore my writing side, or the part of me that always wanted to write stuff. Well blogging is made to order for that. I am writing all the time these days, trying to keep a bunch of blogs going and so far not doing too bad. I wish the money would increase a little more, because I imagine what I could do if I had more time to write and work on my sites.
I think with the right amount of time I could reach a lot of people and get out what I need to say, while still being creative and having some fun along the way. Everyone that blogs and everything you read say that success seldom comes overnight and I think they are right. It doesn't seem to come over the weekend or over the week either, or the month...in fact, success is hard to get reach. Especially success in the blogging business.
But it is there, and it can be done. Over the last couple of years I have made a little tiny bit of money from blogging, actually got to cash a few cheques for my trouble. That was great, although, strangely enough, not as satisfying as getting a bunch of hits or comments on my blogs, giving me the feeling that the money is not my motiviation for blogging, even though it has become something of benchmark or mountain top that I can strive to reach.
When I check my stat counter, and see that I had a lot of hits on one or two of my blogs, that is almost as good as checking my ad revenues and seeing I made a couple of dollars. That maybe why I am not particularly making a lot of money for my efforts. My efforts are not really directed to the money as much as to the writing because that is really what I like to do. I just want to be able to do more of it....
Well, sorry about that, a bit of a rant I guess, not really very helpful in terms of making money with Adsense on your blog, or promoting an affiliate site. But it is something you need to consider. Are you into blogging for the money, the fame, or the fun of writing and being read.
In an earlier post I wrote about being successful, or deciding what success means to you especially as it relates to blogging. We all, (bloggers) need to decide why we are here, are we trying to make a buck, or entertain people, express opinions, or get famous or all of the above. Whatever it is, I think it is worthwhile to spend some time and decide for yourself what it is you want from blogging. Then go after it....

Make Money Blogging
Welcome to my blog. Like so many other blogs and websites this is about making money with blogs and websites....in particular this is about my experiences making money on the internet. At the time of this writing, I am the author of something in the area of 40 blogs, which keeps me pretty busy. Along the way I have learned quite a bit about what works and what doesn't. I hope my experiences help you.
