Welcome to my blog. Like so many other blogs and websites this is about making money with blogs and websites....in particular this is about my experiences making money on the internet. At the time of this writing, I am the author of something in the area of 40 blogs, which keeps me pretty busy. Along the way I have learned quite a bit about what works and what doesn't. I hope my experiences help you.

Monetizing Your Blog

Monetizing a blog can be kind of a contentious subject among bloggers. By monetizing I am referring to placing Adsense contextual ads, Amazon Products, Clickbank, or other advertising links on your blog or website. It's contentious because some folks believe that a blog shouldn't have ads, it shouldn't be a commercial venture. They claim that a blog is not a commercial enterprise, but a form of communication between people around the world, a way to discuss important and not so important issues.

While I agree with blogging being a form of communication, and an excellent form at that, I disagree that it cannot be commercial.

Blogging is time consuming work, yes, it can be fun, but it is work if you want to build a site that has a good readership and gets your thoughts out to more than a half a dozen people. As a blogger you are a writer, and in many ways your ar in the entertainment business. Writing a blog isn't much different than a writing column in a newspaper or writing a sitcom. Only with a blog you are the writer, producer, actor and gofer, all in one.

How many writers or actors work for free? OK some do, but not many, and in a lot of cases they make all kinds of money, so why shouldn't you. A successful blog can reach thousands of people, and provide them with information or entertainment or both. The only way to be paid for your efforts is to find a method or several methods to get sponsors just like newspapers and television shows.

So don't feel guilty because you have some ads in the sidebar or you are promoting a product in some or all of your posts. You are giving your talent and time to the world essentially, (sounds pretty lofty doesn't it?) you deserve to be reimbursed appropriately. Don't let anyone tell you that your blog is too commercial, it has to be if you are going to continue to provide your readers with quality materials for the long term.

Unless you are already very wealthy, you need to be paid for your talent.
