As I mentioned in the previous post, content is all important when it comes to creating a worthwhile blog or website that will make you money from Adsense advertisments. Without content you have nothing, and no reason for folks to visit your site. Nor will you have any reason for the webcrawlers to index your site or your readers to check out your Adsense Advertisements.
If you want to make money from a weblog or website you need to have interesting and useful information for your readers, or if it isn't useful it should at least be entertaining. However, to seriously make Adsense money with a website, I believe useful information is more important that entertaining.
Think of it like this, people come to you because they found you through a search or a link from another site, and your title appears to be about the subject they are searching for. When they get to you, they read your content and posts, and then probably look around for more information on the same subject. That's where the Adsense advertisements come in. Sitting there in your sidebar or above your post are ads for things related to your subject matter. If one catches the readers eye they click on it and you make money.
Now I suppose an entertainment site might work the same way, provided Adsense understands what your site is about and is able to provide more entertainment links in the ads. I have not had much luck with this on the site I have that is primarily written for entertainment. I get lots of readers but not much in the way of conversions to the ads.
On the other hand, with my sites that deal with specific subject matter and that provide useful information about the topic, my ad revenue is better.
By the way this is true for affiliate sales as well as Adsense contextual advertising. If you want to sell dog collars as an affiliate, make sure your blog or website is about dogs and dog related things. You want sell dog collars writing about racing cars.
So where do you get content? First of all, you shouldn't start a blog about something you don't know much about. For example, I don't know anything about horses or horse racing, so I have no business thinking I can write an ongoing blog about them. On the other hand, I have been blogging and making some money blogging for a couple of years and have investigated and tried many methods to be successful. I probably do have enough knowledge about the subject now, to at least be able to write original content frequently.
Don't buy content, for one thing you need to remember that if you are buying it so are other bloggers and website owners so it will be duplicate content which is not popular with search engines. I realize that in a lot of cases, this blog included, there are lots of other blogs about the exact same thing, and our posts may often be similar, unfortunately that is unavoidable with a lot of topics. Let's face it, there are only so many ways to make money blogging, so we are all bound to post about the same things eventually. The secret is to make the content your own, put your own blogger twist on it, and have an original voice. Don't copy someone else, and don't be afraid to have a different opinion from the rest of the pack in your subject niche.
Adsense revenue is all about getting traffic and readers looking for information about your particular subject. Always remember that. You are trying to focus your information and therefore your advertisements to a particular subject matter your readers will want to see.
